About This Guide

A safe, enclosed blaze farm built around a Nether fortress blaze spawner. Nether brick walls with glass viewing panels let you watch blazes spawn and die in lava below. Blaze rods collect automatically into a chest. Essential for brewing and End portal access. This advanced mob grinder build works in Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition, version 1.20+ and above. Budget around 30-40 minutes for construction — have all materials in your inventory before you begin.

Difficulty: Advanced

This is an Advanced build. It demands solid familiarity with at least one of Minecraft’s complex systems — redstone timing, mob AI behavior, or intricate 3D spatial layout. Gather every material before placing the first block, and expect to debug. The payoff in automation, efficiency, or aesthetics is well worth the effort.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Find and Prepare the Spawner

Locate a blaze spawner in a Nether fortress. Drink a fire resistance potion for safety. Clear a 5x5 area around the spawner by removing all nether brick and clearing the platform below.

💡 Tip: Fire resistance is crucial. Without it, blazes will shred you in the enclosed space.

Step 2: Build Collection and Kill System

Below the spawner, place a hopper connected to a chest accessible from outside. Above the hoppers, create a lava layer that kills blazes as they fall. The lava must be contained so drops survive.

💡 Tip: Blaze rods survive lava. The key is that blazes die FROM the lava and drop their rods into the hoppers.

Step 3: Build the Enclosure Walls

Surround the spawner with nether brick walls 3 blocks high on all four sides. This contains the blazes and prevents them from floating away. Leave no gaps — blazes can shoot through 1-block holes.

💡 Tip: Nether brick is blast-resistant and fits the fortress theme. Any solid block works though.

Step 4: Add Glass Viewing Panels

Replace the middle row of walls (z=2) with glass blocks on all sides. This lets you see the blazes spawning and dying inside. The glass also lets you verify the farm is working without opening it.

💡 Tip: Glass blocks are fine here — blazes cannot break glass. You can safely watch them burn.

Step 5: Cap with Nether Brick Roof

Close the top of the enclosure with a full nether brick roof. This prevents blazes from escaping upward and blocks ghast fireballs from hitting your farm from above.

💡 Tip: A solid roof is essential in the Nether. Ghasts can destroy your farm if the top is open.

Step 6: Activate and Collect

Step away from the spawner (16+ blocks) then come back to trigger spawns. Blazes appear inside, fall into lava, die, and drop blaze rods into the hoppers. Check your chest for loot.

💡 Tip: Stay within 16 blocks of the spawner for it to activate. Build a small safe room nearby to AFK.
